Barrowline Cruisers Ireland

Barrowline Cruisers is a friendly, family-owned barge hire company, providing well equipped self-drive barges varying in size from 2 berth narrowboats to 8 berth wide beams. Their base on the Grand Canal is ideally located to allow visitors explore the tranquil waters of the`Grand Canal and the more lively waters of the River Barrow. These waterways provide two totally different cruising experiences.

On a northerly cruise from Vicarstown the Barrow Line of the Grand Canal is negotiated. This links with the Grand Canal main line at Lowtown. From there it is possible to travel east towards Dublin or west to the mighty Shannon and beyond. This is an ideal journey for the novice – simply relax and enjoy the passing countryside as its tranquil waters guide you on your way.

Cruising south from Vicarstown one enters the River Barrow at Athy. The scenery here is more varied and the waters more lively. Cruising enthusiasts who have sampled other waterways are now turning to the River Barrow to meet the challenge of this exciting river. They are finding a water wonderland which matches the great inland waterways of Europe for the sheer beauty of the valley it has carved. Every sense will be rewarded on a cruise through these waters as the unspoilt scenery of the Barrow Valley grows with each and every passing mile.

Onboard all cruisers the following facilities are standard – fully equipped galley, full size sink, fridge and oven/hob, hot and cold running water, full set of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, all bed linen and duvets, radio, toilet, shower, wash hand basin, separate cabins, central heating, first aid kit and comprehensive navigation charts.

Weekly and short break hire available.
