Hook Lighthouse & Heritage Centre

Hook Lighthouse is the oldest intact operational lighthouse in the world with the present structure over 800 years old. Hook Lighthouse offers guided tours of the lighthouse tower all year round. The Lonely Planet Guide refers to Hook Lighthouse as the great granddaddy of lighthouses and has listed Hook as the no.1 Flashiest Lighthouse in the World.

The former lighthouse keeper’s houses now plays host to a whole range of visitor facilities including:

  • Gift shop selling gifts of a nautical nature
  • Café serving homemade soup, sandwiches, various seafood options and fresh scones and cakes from their bakery.
  • Art workshops for adults and children are held at the Lighthouse all year round with resident artist Rose.
  • Art exhibits and maritime displays.

Directions: Hook Lighthouse is situated at the end of the R734, 50 km from Wexford, 29 km from Waterford via the Passage East Car Ferry and 38 km from New Ross.

Guided Tours of Hook Lighthouse Tower

June/July/August – Every half hour from 10 a.m. – 5.30 p.m.
Rest of Year – Every hour from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Group bookings by prior arrangement. Access to Lighthouse by guided tour only.
