Carlow Town ParkCarlow Town Park, Graiguecullen, Carlow.
A wonderful amenity for all the family, Carlow Town Park on the banks of the River Barrow has been completed to the highest standards featuring a safe and secure children’s playground, the design of which was the subject of an international competition. The Park, which commands over twelve acres of open space contains a number of paved walks. The series of tiered earthen embankments is configured as a counterpoint to the nearby Carlow Castle, thus symbolising the town’s Norman heritage. The Town Park is the ideal location for a relaxing picnic with a series of picnic tables fronting onto the River Barrow. Situated on the Laois side of the river, the Park is connected to Carlow Town by a pedestrian bridge over the River Barrow, which was one of the town’s key millennium projects.
