Borris House, the ancestral home of the MacMurrough Kavanaghs, High Kings of Leinster, is one of the few Irish estates that can trace its history back to the Royal families of ancient Ireland. Set in over six hundred and fifty acres of walled private park and woodlands, Borris House retains its place as the centrepiece of the village and its locality. Tours of the house can be arranged by appointment only for groups of 10 or more. Tours feature the Borris Lace Collection, the private chapel and the splendid reception rooms. It is also the venue for the National Country Fair which takes place in August.
