Silaire Wood is a community-owned woodland located to the north of the town of Graiguenamanagh in Co. Kilkenny. The woodland was formerly owned by Coillte, but was sold to the local community and is now owned and managed by Graiguenamanagh Community Group. In 2005, a plan was developed for the woodland which included the development of the site for both ecological and recreational value. There is a board walk which follows the contours of the River Barrow for 800 metres as it winds through the wood. Other amenities that have been developed include a looped walk with picnic and seating areas, information signs and an upgraded car-park. The next phase of the park focuses on the development of wildlife with plans to re-introduce the once native Red Squirrel.
